Joanna Melanie Gillespie is an emerging artist based in Portrush, County Antrim, a small coastal town in the North Coast of Northern Ireland. Her aim is to derive a unique emotional connection with each piece. She paints seascapes and flora with intuition and a courageous use of colour. She has sold over 70 original paintings for clients and collectors across the UK, Ireland and USA.
Surrounded by the beautiful beaches and countryside on her doorstep, she is never far from inspiration to create intuitively.
She is inspired by the impressionists such as Claude Monet and Paul Signac and their ability to create a scene with a beautiful array of colours and their fearless freedom in portraying reality in a more dreamlike and romantic sense.
More directly, she gained inspiration from her mother who taught her how to see the beauty in art. Joanna is a self-taught artist who mainly works with colourful acrylic.
Colour and emotion are integral to her artworks as she creates with careful consideration the impact these have for the viewer.
